ARIO's Communication Committee's update

Greetings from the ARIO Communications Committee (ACC)!

The ACC, one of four committees approved by the Board of Directors per the ARIO bylaws, has been charged with overseeing the distribution of information to ARIO members and the public. In our inaugural newsletter, we’d like to share some of the things we have been working on and what we plan to work on this year.

ARIO Website

In early 2018, ARIO employed the use of a website to share important information and connect colleagues. We have been learning about the site, creating standards and procedures for utilizing the site, and working on building content for our members.

Resources Survey

We sent a survey to the ARIO community after the 2018 conference to learn which resources were deemed important within ARIO and how our organization can develop or facilitate the development of these resources within our bourgeoning community (see the Good to Know section below for some survey outcomes). The most requested resources include research misconduct templates (such as committee reports) and ARIO-generated training materials. We agree that these are not only practical and useful, but they help determine if our institutional practices are similar to our peers and endorsed by the federal oversight agencies. We look forward to working with you to help compile these materials.  Also of interest were forensic resources. Thankfully, we have a strong Forensics Special Interest Group (FSIG) that has been working tirelessly to gather forensic resources and set standards for how to share them within our community. See the FSIG update for information on the impressive work the FSIG has been doing and how you can utilize its efforts.

Grab an Oar

ARIO depends on the grassroots efforts of its members. As the ACC, we are excited to help our members become involved in ARIO, share their expertise, and engage with colleagues. If you have an interest or a skill that would be useful to the community, let us know how you’d like to get involved.  Or if you are brand new to the field and you do not know where to start, please contact us.  We want to help connect you to the resources you need.
